went to start it today spun a couple of times then stopped now wont spin over
battery is fully charged with 13 volts :blast

Has it got an aftermarket alarm/imobiliser?
Is the fuel pump charging when ignition turned on?

Battery

I was showing 13 volts on the meter on the bike and got a green light from the charger.

took it off the bike 12.3 v and 1/3 full on the charger

I think I'll have to wire a direct connection to the battery to charge it.

jumped with another battery BOOM :D

never had a bike do this before, starting to crank then not,
always had slow cranking or relay clicking , live and learn :nenau

thanks for replies :thumb2

Your charger's green light was lying to you.

You can't really go by voltage readings.

Probably hit the compression stroke when it stopped turning as the battery was low on charge (or fooked). Mine was similar today but just managed to start.

990 twin its known for its demand for high cold cranking power from battery.
I've tried aftermarket batteries thinking saving few euros and ended up being disapointed with them. Went back to Yuasa with 230 CCA and no more worries.
Those all were shoving perfect volts but just didnt crank the engine from cold.

Looking at your location you must know a thing about cold :D

the 990 has a cut out, unless it has enought power to turn the bike over you will get nothing, not a click not a try not a damn thing, unfortunalty its designed like that !!
Oh and yes I have fallen foul as well, however there is a nice little jump start post, so jumping it is not a problem.
