Hi all I’ve got the Old Brake Warning Light on the dash, so while I was checking the KnN I thought I’d give the ABS a tap, so what do I tap the Ali block or the black cylinder thingy, while we’re at it the filter is a wire mesh one, would you change it for the paper type 🤔
Cheers Baza

Black cylinder thing: aka the electric motor.

Depends on use. I have a K&N. Never had issues on the bike in many miles. But I think the improvements are near/equal to zero.
It's just easier/quicker to wash and "recharge" if you don't have stock of spare filters (but you need to have stock of the K&N oil :D )

Cheers mate,is it imperative for the filter to be recharged with oil 🤔
Thanks for your reply mate 👍

Last owner of my bike r1200Gsa had placed a K&N filter in situ, when I was servicing bike I swapped it back to an original air filter, don't know how much oil he used, but was all over the filter housing and the engine at that side. After washing/ drying bike and a wee run, no more oil mess, so was the filter issue.
I don't feel any advantage when it was installed, as with the original filter.

Yes, otherwise it doesn't filter anything.
If you are in doubt, or don't want to do it: just put a paper filter.

On my bike it was installed following some engine work done on the bike, and my HP2 comes as standard with K&N (if I remember correctly). But to be fair, for me too, there is almost zero noticeable difference. You can just replace it with a paper one.
