Fish cake & small chips £2.20 - You can tell the quality of a chippy by their fish cakes.

Oktay's is a good chippy IMHO.

Had a proper fish cake from a chippie in Holmfirth a few weeks ago on me way to Dent, nice slices of fish with sliced potatoes on top and bottom and covered in batter and fried, bloody lovely

Thats not a fish cake thats a fish patty. Particular to the NE of England if I'm not mistaken

I'm liking the fish cake:

It tells a lot about a chippie.

There' McGuires in Swallwel that do a fish cake like a cricket ball, the chippy in Stargate that do you 2 nice neat ones, all white fish ,potato and pepper....

....but the bad ones smell of fish, have grey meat and sadly you will find at most chip shops.
