Why hasn't anyone thought of doing this before now?

??? isn't this what people have been doing to airheads for the last 15 years or so ? as well as making shitty cafe racers etc or have I missed something

Or……think deano is taking the piss out of the “builder” of this “ brand new idea” for an airhead boxer beemer.

From AI when I asked 'wet weight of R80GS':

"The original 1980–1986 BMW R80G/S has a wet weight (fully fuelled) of approximately 186 kg (410 lb). It is a lightweight, dual-sport boxer twin with a 19.5-litre fuel tank. Later Paralever models (post-1987) generally weigh slightly more due to frame and suspension differences, with some reports citing around 210 kg (462 lb) for later GS versions."

So achieving 205kg is not really much of an achievement for all that effort.

There have been numerous iterations of ‘lightweight boxers’ over the years - some have claimed weights (probably dry) as low as 175 kg.
