A very chilly Scottish Sunday....

Lots of nice photos :thumb

Just curious........

This old twin-shock, Air-cooled twin seems to have an alternator mounted on the left-hand side. Do you know what the story of this bike is?

It's a television bike, as used by the media to cover bike races like the Tour de France etc.......it's a second alternator, jury rigged on a second pulley at the front of the crankshaft to provide additional power for media equipment, which is stowed in the panniers and the pillion held camera......

Yes, that was me.......I wanted to wave but my hands were frozen to the bars (summer gloves, grips turned up high!!).....so you just got a nod........:)

It was a great day out, over 460 miles all told, plus an hour washing off the salt by candle light when I got home......

Cheers

Scotland

Dutch,
Nice pictures ............ Scotland has some ace biking roads as I discovered in June on my RT .
I am planning to spend a few days up there again in the 1st week in June next year on my new bike which is a Harley Softail Heritage Classic .
I will be with SWMBO - we are going up to North Yorks [ taking car and bike ] and dropping the kids off at her brothers before riding up to the West coast to enjoy the scenery .
My wife used to live on Benbecular and is always going on about the islands so we may be seeing some of them .

A similar route to the one I went on monday but at least you had clear skies ( comparing commando memorial photo to mine). Did you get to the Bealach Na Baa ( road to applecross) if so was it clear, every time I've been up it's been in the clouds. Good photo's though. Now how to get the temperature up????
