Just had a three hour test ride on a 2010 GS Adventure and all my wife and I could say was that was fun. Now fun isn't a word we have used much during the last year or so whilst biking so the bike obviously had an effect on us, but we can't quite work out why!
So this is how I found it. On riding off from the dealer I thought 'oh my god what have I done' but I didn't feel a two hundred yard test ride was a fair test
. Motorway first and quite a bit of wind buffeting so I adjusted the screen to low (stopped first of course!) and much better. Some back roads and it started to make sense. The height of the Range Rover for two wheels gives a new outlook on things. Low down grunt was good as was the gear box and clutch, no idea why but I didn't expect them to be that good (bike had 1200 miles).
Picked up the wife and off we went two up. The wife loved the exhaust note and the comfort and of course the view the bike provided. I had some vibes up my lower arms so not sure how this would be on a longer ride, maybe it was just beacuse it was new to me and I may not of been too relaxed on someone else's bike.
Running at 80mph (private road and all that stuff if any cops are reading) it seemed to lack a little umph but I only run at 80~90mph on the continent so I gather it can sit at these speeds all day.
Maybe fun equates to character, something I last felt when I owned a Triumph Sprint and the growl from the tripple.
Now I can see how you get addicted to them, just wish there was less written about problems but as someone once said to me. 'Buy it and enjoy the two year warrenty and get it out of your system', if you get a good one then keep it otherwise try something else.

so 80/90 is fine all day with the other two gears . The throttle turns a lot more the FJR
