SWMBO and I are going to be on holiday in Donegal next week. We're staying in a house in Rossknowlagh. We're going to be in SWMBO's BMW....a black 3 door hatch 123d M Sport, if anyone sees us....rather than on my GS. :blast

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for must see and must do things while we're there. We've been to the Giant's Causeway....not exactly Fingal's Cave, now, is it...? ;) and done the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge when we were over for the NW200 a few years ago.

A friend of mine from Cork said..."Gweedore in Donegal is a yummy spot... Where Clannad & Enya & Altan and more come from. Galway/Connemara always fun. Up yer kilt". But then he's deserted to San Francisco so what would he know.....:augie

I've always wanted to visit New Grange on the Boyne and we've got a couple of days to play with the following week so might go down there and possibly to Dublin.

However, any more for any more suggestions......?

TIA....:aidan

A wee run out by west of Donegal town through Killybegs to Glencolmkille. Then up the west Donegal coast, lovely scenery :thumb

It's a good 3 hour spin by car from Donegal to Dublin by car and the schools are just back.

Enjoy Ireland :aidan

Entire north west coast, spectacular. Falcarragh, Gweedore, lots of small villages to stop and take in the views.
Errigal mountain is worth a climb if the weather is good.
The Poisoned Glen.
Village of Churchill.
Glenveagh National Park - worth going for that alone. Amazing u-shaped glacial valley. http://www.glenveaghnationalpark.ie/landscape2.htm
Slieve League cliffs in the south of the county, highest sea cliffs in Europe.
Inishowen peninsula.

Lots to do in Donegal without leaving the place. :thumb2

You could try this : Slieve League cliffs, Co Donegal (poached this from another thread http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...253447705.html )

The Slieve League cliffs, on Co Donegal’s southwestern coast are almost three times as high as the Cliffs of Moher . There’s a famous walk on the looped One Man’s Pass. If the weather is clement, go out by boat from the village of Teelin and survey the magnificent cliffs – also known as Bunglass – from the sea.

And you can call at Davy F Towers as well if you have time.....:thumb2

you must go to THE FAMINE VILLAGE best £7 euros I have ever spent.

Do`nt be put off by the outside, you could easy spend a day there is that interesting.

Just returned and Donegual was the most inspiring :)

all the above if the weather is ok'ish to good

Enya and Clannad's father Leo Brennan owns a pub Leo's Tavern in a place called Meenaleck, which plays traditional music most nights, a favourite of Larry Mullins i believe........

Most of the beaches are fantastic for a walk...

Cruit Island is beautiful for a walk.

Daniel O'Donnell's for a cuppa with the Mammy...:augie

Enjoy:thumb2

Good surf in Rossnowlagh, have a swim and walk the beaches. They go on for miles. No point charging off to Dublin with so much on your doorstep. If you must drive, Mullaghmore on the other side of Bundoran is worth a visit, a lot less surf on the beach, Quaint harbour and wonderful scenic drive around the headland.

Have fun
