The ABS ('Brake Failure') light has just illuminated on my 6 month old '08 12GS. It only happened tonight so I haven't had chance to get any dealer feedback yet.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Electronics? Mechanicals?

I have shutdown and restarted the bike so I can rule out a momentary computer sensed fault.

I had this problem on an 8 month old GSA. Turned out to be a corroded connector on the ABS sensor cable.

The new system is different and doesn't use the switches (no servos)

A dealer will be able to diagnose with the computer - best way really as it's under warranty.

... I'd be surprised for this to happen in such a youthful machine, but my ABS sensor kicked off when I had a final drive failure

... Check if the rear wheel will still 'freewheel' out of gear on the centre stand while the engine's running.
... Any detectable noise or notchiness at all, or a reluctance to freewheel, and your FD is failing.

... If so get it fixed PDQ, a catastrophic failure on the move won't be pleasant.

I wasn't talking about the servo switches - something switches the brake lights on and off... :nenau

I had the same and it turned out to be the final drive:(
get it checked out as soon as.I am on my 3rd final drive(06 GSA12000 first drive went at 13000 miles ,second at 22000 or so:rolleyes:
Make sure you tell them to check the final drive as not all Dealers will believe you.Well that at least was my experience.Took me a while to get my bike sorted

Thanks for the replies and advice guys. After computer analysis it turned out to be a faulty speed sensor replaced under warranty by the dealer.
