Hi all.

I was just wondering if any of you in the past had any trouble with your ABS. My has gone faulty. The brake failure light is constantly on. Ive heard BMW might in some circumstances cover the cost of this repair on bike with out warranty. Mine is a 07 model with all the servicing done by myself. It's done 24k.

Has anyone know much about this or the best way to sort the fault out

Also my bloody gear indicator is all over the show at the moment. It either won't show or gets it wrong. At the moment its back in sync. Buts it's frustrating and needs sorting. Any advice on that one to would be appreciated.

Thanks all

Chris

chances of getting a warranty repair done with no service history??
no way.:blast
if you dont have any diagnostic kit you will struggle to repair this yourself, first thing to be done is read the diagnostic codes on the abs, engine management etc, once you have the codes it will give you a starting point.the abs fault could be sticking switches, faulty componants or wiring damaged.the gear selector sensor could be duff or it may have water in the connector or again the wiring could be damaged.:comfort

Gear indicator problems. The indicator unit is on the rear of the gearbox just in front of the swing arm. Trace the wire from it to a connector. Undo the connector and check for corroded terminals. Clean, lube, replace. If it still does it, remove the indicator unit (2 torx bolts, T8 or T6 IIRC) and shake it to listen for water. Dry it out on the radiator, then lay it on it's back and fill with WD40/GT85/Fospro.

Reinstall.

Clean the ABS pick ups on each wheel and make sure all brake pads are moving corrrectly and wearing evenly. Also make sure both brake light switches are working correctly.

If non of that sorts it you'll need a GS911 or a mechanic.
