Hi all you Welsh Tossers.

Myself and Mrs Baps are making our way to Cardiff for the rugby world cup in September. We are heading down to Cardiff on 14 September and are taking in all three matches so we need digs for a week or so.

All the usual accommodation sites are showing "fully booked" so we wuz wondering if any of you locals knew of anything which could help us out. We could off course stay outside of the city but I was hoping to have a beer or two and not have to worry about driving/taxis/trains etc.

All suggestions greatly received.

BTW we are both celts:beerjug:

Mods : Apologies for posting an accommodation message in the regional pages but I wanted to get the message over to them that might be able to help.

Cardiff does not have enough accommodation for big events yet. I lived there from 2002-05 and many hotels were built in that time. Some developers took over office building near the city to convert. Still more hotels are scheduled.

Try www.smoothound.co.uk for a B&B in the rural surroundings. Many will offer a shuttle service during the World Cup.

Another option is to contact the universities and see if they will rent you a self catering flat/room. You might be able to get in just before they open up to the students.
The 2 city centre universites are http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/schoolsanddivisions/divisions/resid/p1868/page54185/index.html and

Piebaps, have a look in the Abergavenny area, there's a direct rail link (about £7 quid return) and they generally put on a few extra trains on match days. you could try the Hotel outside the Station, it's either the 'Railway' or the 'Great Western' can't quite remember .

Great Western - I've no idea what it's like though.

Many thanks for all the tips guys (and possibly gals).

Will have any hours of joy checking them all out.

Seems like the big problem is for Fri 14th and Sat 15 (Wales v Aus) after that we can get in just about anywhere.:beerjug:

Shame about Llanelli this afternoon:tears

Hi Piebaps and Mrs Baps
you are welcome to pitch a tent in my garden. There would be safe storage for your bike in the garage and we are 3 mins from a direct bus or train into Cardiff centre. We might even let you use our bathroom if you are lucky.
