Accomodation in/near Nantes

Hi all

Two of us are heading to France in a week's time - Rosslare-Cherbourg arriving in Cherbourg at 1745 on Wed. Our plan is to use the auto route to get to Nantes that evening.

Can anyone recommend accomodation in the area?

I did try the search function but couldn't find anything other than a post that said the traffic and local bikers in Nantes can be interesting!

Nantes is a reasonably big city, albeit not particularly on the regular tourist track.

There's a hotel for just about taste and pocket. As I rule, I try to head towards the Logis de France, smallish private hotels. For ease, you can use a chain hotel (Novotel or Ibis) even if they are a bit sterile and sometimes out on an industrial estate. There again, if you just want a bed and bath / bog that work, with www. and usually a securish carpark, they do the job.

A good tip is to look the address up on Google maps / Google Earth. It's often possible to see (if a bit blurred) if the hotel is on the railway tracks or next to the Michelin rubber works.
