Pont Aven docks at 1200 and with a realistic departure time of 1300 we are looking for reasonable accomodation west/northwest of Madrid that is not too far off the motorway

Any recommendations?

Thanks

I was hopeing someone might have answered this one, I am looking for somewhere to stay between Madrid and Santander in early December.

Must be someone out there with recomendations

Try Burgos

Great road down there from Santander and we hired a 'bungalow', which is more or less a large static Caravan in the local Campsite. I'll try to get the address for you, but it's on www.eurocampings.co.uk if you have a look. Open all year round I think.

It's-

Campsite Fuentes Blancas
Cartuja Miraflores
09193 Burgos

Lots of good road side hotels along that 400 mile road.

Watching this as well

My wife has retired from pillion travel (oh dear:thumb2 She is flying down while I leave a few days earlier and enjoy the roads and freedom ! Done it many times normally with two of us. Different slant now and have been looking for biker friendly hotels near Burgos first night, and somewhere between Madrid and Malaga second night, for a leisurely ride down

Try ...

... Segovia, and then ride the N502 down to Malaga, 391km's of smooth bends, plenty of fuel and no traffic :thumb

I like Hotel Sol in Toledo. Basic but clean. Reasonably priced and a five minute walk to the historic town centre. For a few euros more, there is secure parking in the underground garage.

San Polo in Salamanca. No garage, but bikes on pavement outside reception.

How did you find your hotels on the many times when you had your wife on the back? Whatever method it was, use the same now that she is not there, choosing hotels (and slants) that suit you riding solo, surely?

If it was your pillion wife that that chose them, ask her to do the same again :D
