....and saw that it was good ..... :clap

I have finally installed a pair of aluminium braced Handguards. They were sold to me as being acerbis rally pros but I am not sure this is the case. Fortunatley they cam ewith the mounting kit so I saved well over 40 squids :dance

Here goes
There is a slight problem with their over all length meaning you cannot just swap them with the BMW ones without even if you do not have heated grips. The leaver clout the guards so there is need of a spacer between them and the handlebar ends. Luckily I had a spare set of counter weights. These were cut down to a lenght of 25mm.

The metal is not that hard so it is easily cut with a hacksaw. To make this quicker I put a long M6 screw and nut though and monuted on a pillar drill. Just like a lathe turn on its head. A traversable vice was used a level finder and a the cutting tool was a common hack saw

The mounting kit comes with M8 countersunck screws which dont work with the BMW handle bars so I used the little aluminium bits that screw into the original guards. The posts that hold the guards on the inside are also a bit of a problem.

As you can see the Brake line doesnt allow the mounting kit to be turned up enough. I have deceide to keep them low but will be making spoilers for them because they dont keep the cold out much really. I also am not sure about the lack of master cylinder protection. Anyway I hope I have cleared up a few questions you all might have.
