Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
I recently got a leaflet with an item purchased for the 1150, that sang the praises of ACF 50, an anti-corrosion spray for aircraft, motorbikes, interstellar probes etc....the ususal.

As any good marketing leaflet should, it made this product sound rather good. On previous bikes I have used Scottoiler FS 365, which certainly made it easier to clean the bike, but I wasn't sure how protective it was and being told to spray a water based product on electrics always seemed a bit odd. That said, I certainly never had any seemingly related problems.

Have any of you lot tried either the ACF 50 spray or the grease? If so, is it any good? The spray certainly seems expensive for 1 litre, compared to the FS365.

Yep it's pretty good - I used it in the winter after every wash...seems to have kept the bike in good nick. Nippy Norman used to stock it I think.

Good, but not as good as Tectyl 506WD which is brilliant IMHO. It even stops the infamous GS forkbrace corrosion. Only drawback is the yukky brown colour, but everybody's bike gets that shade in the winter anyway

I use it, seems better than the Scottoil which I bought a large bottle of. Only downside is the way it attracts the muck.

Must try an experiment, leave a bolt in the garden with wd40, Scottoil, & ACF 50.

I use a product called Astrolan - Fantastic stuff ( pity i don't use it on my bike)

they use it in the aircraft industry, and seeing as my neighbour is an aircraft engineer, i get it all delivered to the door. ;) ;)

Anybody find that it comes out foamy and not as easy to spray as the Scottoiler stuff?

Brian

I have use it to great effect on my electrics......absolutely excellent although it does attract the road dust.

I have found that using the pump spray supplied by Nippy tended to spray out too much of a jet thus leaving an unwanted residue which needed cleaning up,whereas less would do.

So I turned the pump spray upside down when applying a coat to those parts that needed covering and it sprays a fine mist which provides ample protection.

Hope that helps

Regards

yes mine comes out as a pink foam i use a small brush and spread it around.

Best thing I've found for restoring the black plastic bits on the bike to new condition.

I used ACF-50 on my GS last winter and it scrubbed up nice come the spring. We also use it on our aircraft at work and it helps to prevent corrosion at an aerodrome located right next to the sea.

Good stuff :thumb

ACF 50

For info I knocked over my litre container of ACF 50 on my drive way 18 months ago and its still there! All weathers! :thumb

Pressure washer wont even shift it! :spitfire

Sticks like glue.

No salt corrosion on my drive! :thumb

I've just ordered some using the Busters link in this thread...living on a tiny Island that gets a battering from salty sea winds I'll try anything once :)

Being a cheapskate I make my own, white spirit and clean engine oil, about 60/40 in an empty Muc Off sprayer, keeps the rust at bay on my old ride to work XL 250 which sits out every night just 150 yards from the sea,tho I do apply it once a week.
