ACF50'ing my GS LC

It's oil based so will burn off hot parts like exhaust header pipes. Any excess runs off leaving a microscopic coating.

If won't burn on engine cases just the very hot exhaust pipes.

ACF 50 application

Wondered if anyone has tried thinning their ACF50 before application with another suitable fluid? I bought a few litres recently and when I tried to apply it with a pump up spray it comes out as a dribble rather than a spray. Or is heating it up first the best way? Thanks.

Not to sure about the smell, I much prefer the smell of a steak on the barbie.

On a more serious note are the fumes given off by burning ACF50 harmful. My throat felt a lite funny after inhaling the fumes

It's probably a lot less harmful than petrol fumes while filling the tank.

From the above sheet, it seems that other than solvent naphtha, tetrafluoroethylene (propellant) , the remaining component is hydro treated oil. Is that snake oil ?

Yes, keep in a jug of hot water for a few minutes. Keep it back in the jug between sprays.

In a word no.
Try your own experiments, coat some external ironmongery like gate hinges etc. and see how long it keeps its water repellent properties. Better still coat one hinge with WD40 and the other with ACF50 so you can compare. The months fly by.
