Across USA?

I just spent 2 months riding across the US and we shipped our own bikes by air using James Cargo. But you say air is expensive, actually it isn't. Why because it only cost us $45 to get the bikes out of customs. We met folks who shipped via sea and it cost them over $350 to get the bikes out of customs because they were not allowed into the port and had to hire someone.

Shipping is very easy, James Cargo did everything for us and we rode the bikes out of the Virgin Atlantic cargo in Boston.

What was cost, if you don't mind me asking ?

NY to GB.

I was going to send my bike from NY to England ahead of my arrival and get my brother to pick it it up at the UK port. Do you think there would be any issues with customs having someone rather than the owner picking up the bike?

So freighting the bike by air was FREE? I don't remember what it cost getting the bike out of customs at Vancouver and again at Port Newark, it wasn't a terrible amount, but checking my diary for 2006, I paid WW £547 to ship the bike by sea, and that's single. I think by air it was nearer £800 single. I had no problems whatsever collecting the bike either.
