I am really keen to get a camera mounted on my handlebars having seen friends & internet footage, but can't fathom out the vast differences in costs for the multitude of units available.

The few must have's I am looking for are:
- viewing screen so I can see where it's pointing
- smooth video, no jerky low frame rates
- small & light enough to mount onto handlebars or possibly helmet

There seems to be a ruck of models available on eBay for £30 to £40, but then you go up to the CamOne / GoPro ilk.

Any help/advice/opinions would be appreciated.

From what I have seen of other people's pics and videos on here the go pro seems to take some beating.

Bar, or even bike, mounting is not always the best way to go because of the shakey pictures. Body mounted usually produces the best results because the rider evens out the bike's movement.

I used to mount mine on the GSA's foglight bar got some good footage, but helmet mount gives more variety i.e looking at a mountain vista etc etc.,

I would say that a mixture of bike/helmet mounting is best. Bike mounting for a while also allows you to recharge the battery which will only last 1.5-2hrs generally on an action cam.

I mount mine on helmet sometimes and also on a bodywork mount at the front of my Tiger and I can bike power it there. Variety is good when shooting video and with the bodywork mount you can turn it round to video yourself & pillion riding along just for a different angle on things.

We sell the CamOne for £159 or £150 with free p&p to Gsers if you are interested.

I've got a Drift HD Ghost from action cams... Brilliant! Beats the pants off the GoPro. Use a 10% discount voucher and its yours for £270. Get a small pedco clamp and you'll get loads of cool angles too. Used it at the TT this year!
