Adapting BMW GPS mount

I have recently purchased a 1200gs which came with the BMW sat nav mount, Not wishing to shell out for a Nav V sat nav as I already have a new garmin 590.
MY question is :-

A. Can the sat nav wiring be adapted to fit onto a 590 cradle / wiring. Has anyone tried this ?.

B. Is there some garmin / bmw software patch on a nav V which allows the sat nav towork with the handlebar controller.

Any Ideas ?

Hello, in answer to B. As far as Im aware the wheel can only work with BMW branded navigation units. Never seen a patch from Garmin that allows the wheel to work a non BMW unit. Also depending on the model of GS, the Nav V can interact with the bike and give much more information which the Garmins dont allow.

Thanks for the replies. Will continue with my 590 and a twirly ring which will occupy my hand when bored on long journeys.
