...anyone else noticed that Little niggly things start going wrong just outside the 2 year warranty claim?

for example....

1) the aux light housing is mounted to the light bar with 2 plastic brackets that have basically become wbrittle with age and broke off when I brushed past the bike in the garage.

On investigation I found out that the upper part of the light housing is actually siliconed onto the main part of the light unit..so in order to access the broken bracket I needed to break the silicone seal. Solution - made an ally bracket to do the job but no escaping the fact its a lousy piece of design and materials choice in the first place. Wish I'd have kept the MiGSel light bar and Hella FF50's of me other bike!!!!!

2) the usual corrosion and bubbling of paint has set in on the fork brace..again only noticed just outside the warranty period. Scottoiler's FS 350 corrosion inhibitor spray not been able to stem this one.

Be warned guys and perhaps thorough in the couple of months running upto your warranty expiry. Have a good look over the bike - any doubts get it rectified there and then.

As you've probably already found out, when you do get the top cover off the lamps - the bracket isn't a separate item, but is part of the main moulding. A truly crap piece of design, made more ridiculous by the cost of the bloody things! I got rid of mine after my 'off', got 2 pairs of PIAAs and a titanium lightbar and still saved money over the cost pf replacing them...

As regards the fork brace, drop down to your friendly dealer - plenty of people have had this replaced under goodwill after the expiration of warranty - it's a pretty well documented fault. If they're really friendly, see if they'll let you take the new fork brace away and get it bead blasted and decently painted before they fit it...

Fork brace.

Hi,
I had my brace changed out of warranty but it was a waste of time because the new one went the same way. I went back and they said they don't warranty warranty parts because if they did then they would forever be changing parts. I pointed out that if they made them to a decent quality they wouldn't have a problem.
One point though is that they said if I had paid part or all the asking price then they would have to change it.
Cheers.
