i made it oout of 1mm perspex, stuck on with 3M dual lock (velcro type stuff). i used the velcro so that i could adjust it and remove it if it didn't work. my first piece was basically a copy of the screen and i just used it to extend the height. since then i have fettled it down to this. i can ride with my visor up at 120kph, its noisy but i don't mind. (what? speak up, i can't hear you babe.)

Just thought i'd let you know the idea is similar to an emergency fixture i made from a visor insert( anti mist) and good old duck tape!It was to keep the hot air out of my face on the italian motorways during a hot summer trip in 03, it worked well yours looks better, have you any tips on cutting a pattern from perspex? And,are you happy with the size if you don't mind me being personal?

to cut the perspex i use a steel rule and a stanley knife. i score the plastic and bend it to break it along the line. all the edges are straight so it is not a problem. i have used a bandsaw in the past to create curved edges but then i need to use sand paper to smooth it down. this way it breaks cleanly and doesn't need sanding.

size doesn't bother me, i always have fun...oh, you meant the screen. the idea behind it was to "flick" the air over my helmet. i tried lips (mmm, tasty) and other variations before i got to this design. without it the air hits me in the face and is irritating.

:beer:The weekend is here so i'll have a go at fabricating a screen extender and roadtest it.I can't think of anything else wrong with the bike at all that i'd change, thanks for the help.

''The only standard GS is a brand new one''.

Well there may be a few bits iv'e got my eye on.

I have been thinking about adding a lip to my 1100 screen, at the moment I have part of an old TDM screen double sided taped to the top, looks ok..ish but would like to try other ideas.

Q: is this from just normal flat 1mm perspex? have you bent it to shap or or managed to shape it somehow so it keeps a different shape?

Does it flex?

its made from standard flat sheet perspex. i did bend it slightly by warming it with a hot air gun/blower and bending it at the same time. let it cool will still bent and it keeps some of its shape.

i have previously bent screens by warming up in an oven set at 180C, and letting them cool over the shape you want to retain. the 1mm is too thin and loses its heat too quickly. if i remember correctly the other screens were 2 or 3mm thick.
