Can anybody recommend any advanced training available in the South Wales area?:rob

I have completed the AIM test, but wish to carry out more training to improve my riding.

Cheers Kev

Get in contact with the bikesafe officer in your area. I'm sure he will be able to give you details of what advanced courses are available to you.......:o

Try going to the RoSPA website, and searching the RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders Association link for a group in your area. Better, try this: http://www.roadar.org/. Doing a search on the less-than logical site has produced this list of groups in south Wales: http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp_a=sp100314c1&sp_q=south+wales&sp_p=all&sp_f=ISO-8859-1 . And then I found this: http://www.roada.org/groups/groups0607a.pdf .

You can then join a local group and, like the IAM, at low cost progress to take the RoSPA test, aiming for a Gold standard pass ( http://www.roadar.org/riders/test/grading.htm ).

My own experience of taking on IAM members for RoSPA training is that MOST seem to perform at a level of about Bronze/Silver, although some are better than others.

The real benefit of passing the RoSPA test is that to retain membership you have to re-test every three years (the cost of the re-test is included as part of your annual RoADAR fee - approx £20p.a.) This, then, requires that you maintain your riding standard.

The IAM test is 'pass and forget', and it strikes me that far too many IAM members do just that.

Like many skills, advanced riding skill are 'perishable', and if you don't do the practise you'll lose them.

i would suggest just go out on the bike and put into practice what your learned on the iam course, the more you practice the better you wil be .
why pay more to get another piece of paper , it wont save your life the training you have had will.
just ride and remember the procedures till they are second nature!!
