I usually keep my bike reasonably clean and tidy but with the crap weather i have left it a little longer and consequently i have found the source of a feint smell of hot oil (that has remained despite fixing the oil sight glass some while back). The timing cover is weeping a little oil and wetting the dry crud on it. Clearly a good reason not to clean it so often :D

You can see in the picture below the leak. It's very mild and right now i'm not worried about it. But on checking the manual there doesn't seem to be a gasket for this part.

is this just a case of taking the cover off, cleaning up and using some gasket silicone when reassembling? Presumably other people have had this...?

Thanks

Here's the bad News!

The Telelever suspension has to be taken forward to allow you to remove the cover to clean it and reapply silicone gasket!

You could try "GENTLY" nipping up the 5mm allen screws around it 9nm torque from memory gently nipping should do I mean if they are loose they'll just turn

Good call DrFarkoff. Just tried all the bolts and most less than hand tight! All nipped up now so interested to see if that clears it, if only for the time being...

Cheers!:thumb2
