The stock Adventure crashbars foul the oil line under the tank. Consider alternatives ...

Mine didn't. I checked after seeing the warning post - I think it's probably down to variations in construction (of both the bike & the bars) and how they're fitted. Mine had a good 1cm clearance. I've replaced mine with H&B bars, which I think will do a better job at less than a quater of the price.

If they do, that's not a real problem. I fixed it in half a minute by bending it upward half a centimeter, half a year ago or so.

Last week I got a letter from my dealer to come in for a check and a possible repair for this issue. After a phone call they insisted that I would let them check it, and the mechanic told me that's exactly what they do: bend it upward half a centimeter...

Adventure Crash Bars

Ah-ha! But you are all missing the point of the Adventure crash bars. How many of you have gone down with others (H+B, Touratech?). Sure the botom and front of the heads are protected but not the top and back! Both sides of my bike are marked from slow spills. This does not happen with the Adventure. Incidently I am aslo after a set - any condition - even broken - considered.

Glad to say I've not road tested my H&Bs, but I can say that the Adv bars did not protect the heads in a spill - leaving one rocker cover holed and both 'crash pads' wrecked. The right side of the tank and the right BMW Fog Light was also trashed. Adv crash bars are ineffective and grossly overpriced - in my informed (unfortunately :P) opinion...

If you're in a spill that's going to be damaging the TOP of the jugs, i would have thought worrying about the whether the bars are going to lessen damage would be the last of your worries

I've got the standard OE Adv bars on mine and just by dropping her on her side when i pushed the topbox closed on a slight slope I damaged the case and smashed the HT lead cover.

BTW.....the silver ones go for £12.80 odd each.....the black ones are £3.50 each.......and they're just sprayed silver........so I got a pair of black'uns and when I can be arsed I'll get round to spraying them up with a can of plastic spray i already have.....naaa, sod it, I'll never get round to it........and black looks fine anyway :D
