I'm thinking about buying some pannier liners for my Caja Sahels, and I rather like the look of the Kathy's Journey bags, particularly as I'd be happy using them as general luggage as well as for the bike.

Unfortunately, none of the websites that sell these bags lists the dimensions, and Bobs BMW seem to be a bit intermittent about answering emails.

Could someone please tell me what the internal dimensions are for the 1150 Adventure Panniers (they look to be the closest fit to my panniers)

Pannier bags for 1150GSA

Dimensions for BMW 1150GSA Ali Panniers are roughly, L16", W11", D11" with a further 2" in the lid.

Have a look at the attached photos, I have recently had these inner bags made up locally, company details on the photo of the label. Bags are custom made to fit adventure panniers and expand above the lip to take in the space in the lid. They are also flexible enough to compress down and add luggage on top if you have not filled them. A 'U' shaped zip is fitted for easy loading and the zip can be fitted with a padlock enabling them to be used as general luggage / flight bag. A bargain at £50 the pair, compared to BMW bags. The company has kept the template for them so they can be made up fairly quickly, if interested give them a call quoting BMW pannier bags. Alternatively, give them the dimentions of whatever size you want and they will make them. I highly reccommend this lot, they make a lot of differing bags and storage systems for my workplace and are very easy to deal with.

Hope this info is of some use to you.

Thanks for that - after some deliberation about the Kathy's Design bags, I decided to get in touch with Montrose Rope and Sail myself. They had a bit of spare time so they fitted my job in and I've now got a pair of liners on the way for £50 plus delivery :thumb2

I'll try and get some pics when they arrive.

will be interested in seeing them as i was thinking of some liners for my Caja Sahels
mind you the Waitrose freezer bab seems to be doing a good job!

TT panniers

cheers Bob for the info.

called em yesterday about a set for my Touratech panniers and they'll make them to my spec. next week and ship to Germany. :D

The Touratech factory in Niedereschach is just down the road from here but their bags seem proper cheap and nasty errrrr...... except for the cheap bit

You are correct, the TT ones are not cheap, however you are also wrong: They are not nasty. Mine have had over four years of regular and heavy use, they are still unmarked and as good as new.

I'm not suggesting that you should buy them instead. Just saying.

I reckon the quality may well have been ok four years ago but as with a lot of products they cut costs over the years which means cheaper materials are used and TT probably found a cheaper source to produce them, pretty sure they don't make em themselves.

Anyways, the one in the TT shop here in Germany don't look like they're worth 45€, maybe about half that. Having said that I did see on their website that they now offer Ortlieb bags to fit the Zega Pro line which are probably fine.

I was getting all ready to make my own but for that price I can't afford to buy all the materials let alone the time to make them. Looks like I'll give giving them a ring pretty soon to discuss sizes for my worldbeaters. Thanks for the pics and advice!:thumb2

I was asked to not let on how quick they were able to deliver the bags coz they can't always get them out at that speed.

But 1 week to manufacture and deliver to the south of Germany ain't half bad :beerjug:

cheers,
Cliff
