Adventure pillion footpeg extensions

I have a 2005 Adventure that was going to take the SO and myself to the Northcape in July of this year, however she broke her left leg (Knee/Tibia) very badly 4 days after I picked up the bike and spent 6 weeks in a full length plaster. As a result of this she does not have full mobility in her knee yet.

She manged to sit on the 'bike for the first time last week so looking on the plus side we instantly decided to sort a holiday out. The plan is to catch a ferry to Germany and then on to a coastal circuit of Jutland as an alternative holiday at the end of this September. The thing is she cannot actually get more than her heel on the left peg, this is far from ideal for a 2000 mile trip so I need to move the rear pegs down and forward, now I reckon I can fabricate some extension plates with new hangers to pick up the rear mounting bolts on the pegs, but before I re-invent the wheel has anyone done this and even better got a drawing or photograph they can share?

A tad expensive but try here for pillion peg lowering kit.

I had the same problem...

Andreea has a back problem.......not my fault!!! and we needed to drop the pegs lower than standard footpeg lowering kits. MrIfan bless his smelly socks...made up a couple of alloy blocks to drop them even further...works a treat!

My son had some knee trouble so I made some quite easy.I just remade the peg mount out of a block of ally then screwed it to an ally plate in the best position for his knees this plate was bolted on under the old plate so you can still use the panniers,they have done 8000 miles and just passed the MOT with no problems I will try to post some pics here goes.

Try a pm to Danny GSI on the forum. I havn't seen him posting lately, but he was supplying great stainless steel extentions at really good prices. He made a set for me that dropped the rear pegs by about 75mm and charged me just 35 euro. I'll take a pic later and post it up for you

The reason why i wouldn't go for the NN option, dear Longdog, has to do with the 90 quid difference between its item and Danny GSI's...

It looks like I have a solution, the picture shows two plates, the bottom is the left hand side, amd the top the right, the idea being remove the rear peg hanger, slide the plate between the original subframe footpeg bracket and the pannier bracket (It is a GS Adventure with BMW Aluminium panniers) and bolt in place, the footpeg hanger then bolts onto the new fixings, a little bit of dicreet rework to the rear of the original hanger is required, however I am quite good with an angle grinder...

The plane of the original fixings is sufficient to move the pegs down and forward to a comfortable position, and the brackets are 8X40 Dural plate that was part of a door system in a previous life, a quick coat of black paint completed the job, total time to fabricate was about an hour, and total cost has to be around 20p for paint. I will fit and photgraph at the weekend and post a picture (with luck!)
