Adventure screen or not ??

This question has probably been asked many times before, but is it worth swapping the standard screen on a standard GS for the Adventure screen ? I know it is taller and wider, but does it make any real difference ? My GS is going in for a service soon and was going to get one fitted at the same time - I am clocking up 500 miles a week and had added the clip on bit from Touratech, but it doesn't seemed to have made much of a difference.

I have tried various screens on my 1150 and find the MRA Vario to be the best for me. Probably cheaper as well.

Same here. I use an MRA Vario too :thumb If you do decide to go for an adventure screen, you will need the extra fittings too ££££ !!!!

I have an Adventure screen on my 1150, It came with it on, and although i have only had the bike for a little over two months, i find the screen wobbles alot, infact it is very wobbly, and i can't compare it to the original screen, but it does the job

cheers Adrian

Better but you'll need Tobinators

After 2 1150's with standard screens the Adventure item is better but needs Tobinators to be really good - so even more ££, but it is fine at 100 (ahem, kph of course m'lud;) )

I have a Adv that had the original screen fitted when I bought it new. I swapped it for the taller Wunderlich jobby and some Tobinators...........it made a fantastic difference, loads better.... ;)

I changed to the adv screen last year. My bike came with the standard and then I tried the vario. I found the adv the best. Mind you I am only 5'6" and not a lanky git like other GS riders. Hope this helps, Ricky :thumb

I bought a second hand adventure screen from Bryn [it was as new!!] noticed an improvment over the std. one - yes it does wobble a bit more than the original but it suits me at 6`

Try and borrow one first to try if possible, what suits one person may not suit another

I have an Adventure screen (cos I have an Adventure) which was marginally better when it was tobinated but substantially better when I put a tobinated MRA vario on - oh yes :thumb

My first GS had a standard screen which I found next to useless so fitted a Wunderlich tall screen which improved things somewhat. My current GS came with an adventure screen fitted and I was ready to change things over but found the adventure screen to be an enormous improvement over the Wunderlich. I'm 5'9" and have the seat in the high position.

I have Wunderlich screen that came with. Good for me with no buffeting on lowest setting but buffeting on other two positions.

I have an adv with, predictably, an Adv screen. Was awful until I Tobinated it (or Tobers did actually), now it's great. 6' with low seat fitted, and still some more "up room" on the 'binators.

I put Tobinators and a second hand adventure screen that Steptoe flogged me on my old 1100 and it made a world of difference, although the adjustment was crucial. I think I would shell out for the Tobinators too if I was putting it on a standard 1150GS - I think there would be some advantage to be gained from the extra up-and-down-and-a-bit-back-and-forwardness of it all.

Having said that, I have to say that I get equally good results with the unTobinated adventure screen on the adventure, so I guess the screen itself must be doing some good.

They can be a bit like hen's teeth to get hold of second hand, I should say.

I went the MRA way no buffeting at all. I also tried it with Tobinators(Just for the hell of it ;) ). They stopped the wind noise slightly but it caused buffeting for SWMBO so I had to take them off.
