adventure spec help please

A bloke down the pub has an Adventure he is thinking of selling, i went along and had a look, but was too busy talking to notice if it had ABS nad heated grips.
I thought these were standard on an Adventure ? its an 52 plate with 'black engine' but looks as if its still single plug, i did see that much
or do i need to get the VIN number ?

It probably is a single spark, the twins say twinspark on the cyl head, if it is ABS it will have a switch on the right side cluster and if heated grips it will have the switch in the same right side cluster.
Single or twin makes no difference its only for the emissions, both perform the same.

A 52 might have the dreaded Srevo brakes if it has ABS, if it has then run a mile, but it might have the desireable Non Servo ABS which is fine and is what the new R1200S has gone back to, its easy to tell, with the ignition switched off squeeze the brake lever if the brakes work they are non servo and OK, if not, RUN.
Or it may not have ABS at all in which case the brakes are regular ones that work.

I'm pretty sure they are both options for extra wonga, like all things BWM.

The other options include a lower first gear and white lenses on the indicators, these might have been after 02? I only have a standard 1150 with the normal working type of ABS.

I think the only thing that comes as standard is fork brace corrosion. :D

Not really, having owned both, I find the twin spark models are smoother and noticably more powerfull in low and high revs. About the same in the midrange though.

Don't run a mile. Just be aware of the issues. They are very good brakes, with only a few recorded incidents of partial failure. I had no problem whatsoever with mine (1 year, 7000 miles). I prefer non servo brakes, but I don't think servo brakes are a serious reason to turn you away from a good bike.
