Have tried searching as I suspect this has been done before. But then again, there are probably very few questions now that haven't....

Anyway. Is it possible to fit the BMW aluminium "Adventure" top box to a standard (ie non GSA) 2008 R1200GS? If so, what do I need?

Thanks in advance.

Yes its a simple straight fit, all you need is the GSA rear rack and fittings which will bolt straight on. Be aware you can't fit the vario panniers with the GSA rear rack.

Thanks.

Does anyone have a pic of what the rack looks like when fitted to a GS? Presumably you lose the pillion grips, or are they replaced with something else/better?

The GSA rear rack includes pillion grab rails.

Seeing as the top box is made by Touratech you would have thought they and BMW would have ensured the top box fitted directly onto the rear rack, but no, you need an additional adapter plate between the GSA rear rack and the BMW/TT GSA topbox.

Thanks.

any picture on this site of an ADV will show you but hers goes.

GSA topcase on GS :thumb

The pannier frames and rack etc. Cost me around £200 on here...
Grab handles are built in.. and far better than those as standard on the 1200;)
