Been looking for a while now for a decent back rest to keep SWMBO quiet / happy. My issue is/was I didnt want to drill, stick or nail anything onto my top box as she only jumps on once in a blue moon.
However, in 5 weeks time we are off to Spain for 2 weeks so needed to get it sorted. A bit of goolie scratching and chin rubbing and hey presto, a solution :beerjug:
A couple of cable ties through the lid anchor points and 2 more through the hinges to keep it in place, a 12" square piece of foam matting. Job done. I've tried it and its really comfy, best part is 2 snips and its off!

Now I'm just bracing myself for the "Have you seen my Yoga Mat anywhere?" question :augie:augie

Great bodge mate! :) Its always great when you do something the cheap way! I remember doing a 1000 miles in 24 hours, thought my arse was gonna fall off. Couldn't afforad an airhawk at the time but duct taped a 5 pound primark fleecy hoodie to the seat! IT was 600 blissfull miles after that!

GS Backrest 2nd version (bodge!)

When it came to it, we hadn't got enough room for shoes, makeup, nail varnish etc etc :blagblah:blagblah with the standard top box :blast.

I bought a Dri-bag. Using a piece of 5mm ally checkerplate 30 inches long and 4 inches wide, bent to 90 degrees approx halfway along. Attach small pad for back rest. Job done.....again.

This beauty sits perfectly under the passenger seat, is flexible enough for a bit of "give" but is mostly supported by the full-to-bulging Dri-bag. We did use it without the bag and it was still sturdy. She prefers this one to the top box version. Just another idea if you are stuck. :friday
