Amend the switch wiring to bring in a relay to make it a switched live circuit. Then it'll never be left on, nor be able to short out and bring the lights on without the Bike being on.

I have gone with Colights and wire through hex ezcan. Colights are great quality, extremely good price and deliver within 3-4 days.

Pretty sure he went with the ones in the post you linked to and used the Ezcan.
Those Denali lights look very nice indeed ... but the price ! 
The best are probably Denali. I've got Denali on my GS and my v100 Stelvio
On the previous Guzzi V85TT I tried cheaper alternatives but they failed after a long wet ride
