I have loaded city navigator nt+ europe v8 on to my pc but it wont download on to the gps i have highlighted the maps i have tried everything short of throwing it out of the window !!

You need the non NT version of the maps, as the Nav II is predominantly a
26xx Garmin opposed to the later versions.

Thanks for the advice could you tell me which one to get and the best place to buy it.
I'll guess from your statement that you have a BM Nav 2 with original disk(s) and you want to update the software?
Then go here: http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/mapsource/update/cd_update_details.asp?CD=010-10432-04 order it, then pay for the unlock code. Ok?
Nav II originally came with City Navigator v5 and latterly v6. It will pretty much cope with v7 if you push it. Give it v8 or even v9 and the extra level of 'attribute variation' in the mapping data will cause the processor to fumble a bit slow for most peoples liking.
Pan European has written a spiel on this aspect of endless v fruitless upgrade here.

I'm still bimbling along on my Nav II and indeed just got back from all over Europe for a week quite 'appy on CN v6.
It didn't miss a trick anywhere, (except one the time I ignored it and foolishly followed a nameless 2008 Tom-Tom rider.)
