Looking for new helmet, I have owned a BMW system 6 for nearly five years, with no problems, like helmet. Problem is all mates who have also got one, have had problems with leaks, one is on third helmet another on second, mine has never leaked.

Looking on Internet seems to be common problem with System 6.looking at Schubert c3pro and Shoei Noetec, never had a Schubert, Shoei fits well, but never had flip lid from Shoei, also heard of problems with visor mechanism on this.

Anyone any experience of these lids, including BMW system six, is leaking still a problem or is this fixed on latest ones.:nenau

I had a system 6 for 2 years - thought it was the dogs danglers before I took it out in the rain then the constant dribbles down the inside of the visor used to drive me mad. I took it to France in its second year and it was hot hot hot! riding with visor up and sun glasses on was impossible because the visor would flip closed at 50+ MPH. Its a pity because I loved the helmet feel - took it back to Rainbows once for a new visor (to stop the leaking) but the replacement was just as bad so I gave up in the end and bought a Nolan.
The Nolan is heavier (but its a slightly bigger shell) has better accommodation for Autocom and is quieter and comfier. Sun visor operation is V good. Vents are good and havent had any problems with visor - been in cold temps and very warm temps in Austria last year and it performed faultlessly - it was half the price of a system 6 and a good lump less than a Shoei - I did like the Shoei but it is not that good that it was worth twice as much as the Nolan. (but thats my opinion and others will obviously differ).

Bought mine from Hein Gericke when they were in Doncaster - but now they are gone dont know where the local dealer is - J & S always seem to have a good display - may worth a try.

Not BMW , but it might be worth your while looking at Shark Evoline. I had BMW 4 which was great , but because of recalls I went onto Shark. Have had Both Evoline 1 and 2 and will probably get a 3. I love the way the chin piece goes right back out of the way , for open face.
:)

Try Schubert, they actually make the BMW system helmets, given you have liked the helmet you have :thumb

Recently purchased the new Schuberth S2 light and extremly comfortable,I really rate the drop down sun visor.

I've owned a system 4, system 5 and a schuberth s1 pro and c3, all from the same factory and the Schuberth branded ones are much better screwed together with less faults.
My Sysytem 5 had a new interior and then was replaced at 23 months because of numerous faults.
I always used to swear by Shoei lids but for some reason they must have altered the shell size dynamics because they never fit me nowadays.
My C3 is a good few years old , it was one of the initial batch sold in the UK ,its only problem was a niggly internal sun visor rattle which was easily cured and has been fine ever since

Advice

Thanks for advice so far

Still not certain, think I need to look at them all and try on and ask a few questions.

Just a thought Schuberth introduced the S1 and then made a S1 pro model to extend the model life by a couple of years before introducing its replacement the S2.
As they have have brought out a C3 pro perhaps the model is on the way out to be replace by a C4 in the next couple of years ?
Just a thought

You may well have noticed this... but with the System 6, the visor can appear closed but in fact needs an extra bit of encouragement to close the last couple of mil - I've never managed to get mine to close in motion. You pull it down what feels like all the way, then one more push.

Could be the cause of the leaks that you've heard about. Mine has been fine, way better than my System 5 :thumb2

New system6 evo due out very soon. Hope all issues are sorted with this one.

Yes I have I tend to pull mine down from top centre of visor and its never leaked but all three of my mates have, I love helmet but don't want to go to new one and it leak, but need to change soon as mine is coming up to 5 years old. Also the side panel on chin came adrift whilst riding and I have had to superglue back in place.

I find pressing down from top of visor helped, but then I damaged visor hinge :(
When replacement fitted problem disappeared - I think a non recall type fix ?

I have a shoei that I use for every day riding comfy but couldn't put a autocom in, it would drive me made as its very narrow,,,snug fit but long

To tour I use carberg hyper x, has the ear sections that you can take out for the autocom headset, field of vision is excellent and a drop down sun visor that when not used will took away completely, also the chin guard comes completely off for when you reach hot weather:Motomartin
