all advice needed, ive found a 1200gs, at a bumw dealer that is absolutly mint!!. full service history, one owner, low mileage etc., my query is this ideally i wanted a rock red one, this is ocean blue, and i had a budget of £7500, and ideally i wanted an '05 possibly '06 model, this an '04 plate

so these are my questions.....

1. how easy would it be to change the tank panel and beak colour either get it painted, or swap em full stop.

2. does it matter that this an 04' model?, would i better sticking out for a younger model?, or doesnt it matter?, coz this really is a mint looked after bike!!

cheers, Andy

I think there's a company that will give you different coloured panels on an exchange basis, can't remember who but I'm sure someone will. It seems to be quite a straight forward job though, I think it was about £200 for any colour IIRC, though don't quote me on that.

Funnily enough I wanted a blue one when I bought my red one. I'd say I'd swap it but I'm quite happy with the colour now!

As for the age thing, personally I'd try for something a bit younger, especially with that sort of budget, the 04's were the first models out I think. That said if I had a choice between a perfect '04 or a ragged '05/06 I'd go for the '04.

You should be able to get a newer bike than an 04 with £7.5k to splash around. Avoid the 04's if you can. I'd be targeting 06's.

Changing colour is easy, as you can whip all the coloured plastics off the bike in 5 min.
