Just refitted my front wheel after powder coating.
Without the callipers fitted the wheel spins very freely until I torque up the front axle (50NM) as per reprom. After this the wheel only will spin 1/3 of a turn before it stops.
Is this correct or have a done something wrong? If so any idea what?

Any help with this gratefully received before I pull it all apart again.
Cheers
Steve

did you clean off the powder coating where the disc bolts to and where the wheel spacers fit?

I did Andy, It's gonna be something simple (like me) :augie
The spacer is looking favourite. I didn't pay enough attention to it when I took the wheel off. It seemed symmetrical to me. Could it be back to front?

Not sure.... but i dont think the spacer will fit in the seal if its the wrong way round(too big)

Try the spacer. The right spacer (looking from the front) just slides into the seal, If you have it the wrong way round it will be squashing the seal on the wheel.

If you have torqued the wheel you may of damaged the seal. I had a similar problem changing disks but realised before I torqued the wheel up

cheers

The spacer will not fit inside the seal whichever way I put it in. It mates upto it.
(The callipers make no difference, and are not dragging as this happens with the calipers off) ) When I apply the last 1/2 turn of torque that's when it binds. Previous to that it's free.

Am I correct in thinking the spacer sits inside the dust seal? As this is not the case will this be the problem?

The powder coaters removed and refitted the wheel bearings, could this be the issue?

Cheers

The dust seals are different for each side (according to fische) 35mm Left and 30mm right.
Am I correct in thinking that the extra 5mmm is to accomodate the spacer clearance?

If so I reckon they have fitted the dust seals to the wrong sides.

Does this make sense to anyone else or am I still talking bollocks?

BTW, I really appreciate all the help. It gives me some options to look at.

Update

As we suspected, the dust seals we fitted by the powder coaters on the wrong sides. The spacer slides into the other side perfectly.

Unfortunately I have damage one, so waiting for Motoworks to deliver new one. Which is tomorrow.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help with this. I really appreciate you all taking the time to reply.

Cheers
Steve
