I am looking for an effective way to lower the rear foot pegs on my 1150.
SWMBO is suffering with stiff joints and cramp :rob on anything but the shortest runs and is seriously spoiling our enjoyment.:(
Does anyone know of any manufacturer and distributor for new ones?
Anybody selling any second hand?
I am sure I have seen a thread on making your own but all my search attempts have drawn a blank.:nenau
I do need to keep the BMW pannier mountings in place.
Feedback on any of the above or recommendations on other ways of solving the comfort problem appreciated.:thumb2

Cheers:beerjug:

Touratech supplied me with a lowering kit. Wifey says their more comfortable.

touratech are cheaper,
mv verholen make them but they are a hefty 100quid or so.
i have these,if you are around my area you can have a look/try?
not sure what searches you have tried, but there were some pics of brackets other people had home made.
you have the system plastic panniers?if so you need to keep the pannier mountings in place.
i had some brackets once from a guy called danni gsi?
but they lowered the existing footpeg mount ,which meant you couldnt fit the system panniers.

I have used advanced search and put in rear foot peg lowering, and a few variations on the same theme. Although I have found a few comments about the ones sold at Motorworks (£120) I did not find anything on home made varieties
Anybody with advice on what I should type in?

Yes I do need to keep the fittings for my plastic BMW panniers

Cheers Shane
The Touratech ones do appear to be the cheaper option at the moment
Unless someone else knows better???

Thanks for your replies chaps keep ‘em coming

I've got a set of Verholen, the same reason as you're looking for them...:thumb

They have cured her problem....been on the bikes now for 6 years, still as new...

No problem with panniers....

However, you will find that they become the first thing to touch down when pressing on a wee bit...:augie

Came as a bit of a surprise to Mrs CC (and me) when her boot touched down... :D

hi coolcarbon, yep thats the ones i have.
been on the bike a few years.
no problems with bmw system or touratech pannier mounting.
i lost one of the small grubscrews once but soon replaced with a bolt:)

i am told by joanne that they make touring much more comfortable.

i think they sit lower than the touratech one.
other people have made brackets much cheaper

i think the pics are hidden in posts.so you have to spend some time trawlling.

you dont see them secondhand very often.
it is often the cost of the verholen that people complain about ,so that leads them to make up a bracket.
i looked at this and tried some homemade types, but didnt like the look of them like meccano or they didnot drop the rear pegs where it was comfortable.
so as a touring holiday loomed, just got on and ordered direct from mv verholen.job sorted never been aproblem since.

i think the words
"seriously spoiling our enjoyment" are key issues.

are you going to make your own?
if not i think ttech and mv are the options.

Thanks for the input dudes. You have all pointed me to where I needed to be. The big dilemma now is will the cheap n cheerful Touratech ones do the job well enough (will SWIMBO be comfy) or do I dig deep  (with my Yorkshire short arms) and go for the all singing dancing MV Verholen types. The Wunderlich models are only slightly cheaper but do not look as adjustable.
1st port of call will be the want adds while I make my mind up.

Thanks again:beerjug:

good luck.not seen many used ones for sale.

i reckon you should get the mv owd geeser, will save all the messing about.
if she doesnt like them i am sure you can get most of yur money back.:jibber

I must admit, deep down, that's the way my brain is ticking.
I may be knocking the dust off the plastic pretty soon:o

good luck. like i offered before, you can always seem mine and try em.:)

Thanks for that. I don't know if the busy schedule will alow me to fit a trip in in the near future but I will keep you in mind if something comes up.

Cheers

I ordered a set of the toura tat ones and when they EVENTUALLY arrived, the finish was shocking!! A blind, one-armed monkey could have done a neater job of welding them together. It was so poor I sent an e-mail to TT Germany to complain, and sent them straight back. Those that CC has pictured look a whole lot better finished, and probably worth the extra of your hard-earned IMHO.

just wanted to ressurect this thread, and see what the outcome was, as I'm also thinking about lowering the pillion pegs, and wondered if the MV ones were ordered in the end.

I've got the 1150 Adventure with the BMW standard metal cases, and wanted to know if the MV kit would still fit with the alu boxes fitted.

Cheers

I've had a set for ages that I bought from Nippy Norman. If I remeber, they are MV Adjustable ones, or maybe Wunderlich. Anyhow, they look like CCs and I've got a happy bunny on the back as a result! :thumb
