Me and a mate hope to due some trail riding at the start of October. We have a couple of weeks to use and fancy the above locations. Plan is to wild camp/campsite and would like maximum trail / road ratio. So a couple of questions:
What's a realistic daily trail mileage.?
And what's the most trail dense area?
Does anybody have any routes they are willing to spare ?
I'm assuming there is plenty of options so I don't want to overthink this, but any key pointers appreciated

I'll check out the vibraction site, although my french is lousy. We plan to keep to camping, so long as the weather holds.

if you want a North to South Portugal off road route drop me an email to markie underscore wales at hotmail dot com :) You'll need to send me piccies, but that's all.

cheers

Markie

Hi

You could register with www.wikiloc.com and download any number of trails??.....,if you've a Garmin GPS there's an icon to download direct to same. E.g. I have several listed there to include France,North West Spain and Morocco.... Works really well and of course its free...you'll not need to pay for vibraction or any off road guide companies or need to speak French,Spanish or Arabic!!! It's your call.........

With the info therein you'll see the ride times/distances etc along with the odd picture of various pistes if available.

Enjoy your ride!

:)

Just saying....

A lot of camp sites begin to close in early october and after the weekend of the 15th almost all of them will be closed. You can wild camp in Spain but there are some restrictions and as a general rule your has to be a 'genuine' bivouac, i.e. temporary - 20.00 - 08.00 - and out of need rather than just having a freebie.

Given the above and the shorter day length - and the cold at night! - I think the booking.com option (Tripadvisor sucks) is worth taking seriously - you get to meet people too, and eat the local food :)

There are loads of trails on wikiloc but it pays to search using the place names, which have to be spelled 100% correct, including accents, to get the best results.

Enjoy :)

I upgraded my gps and will be downloading tracks.........We are traveling light but with warm kit and don't intend on overnighting in the same place twice. Maybe the odd hotel, so got booking.com on the phone. ........So will be following my nose.
What could go wrong?????
Thanks for the pointers

Mark
