After waiting 5 weeks for the suit to be produced(size42R) its arrived. However its a bit tight across the chest, I did send my measurements on the online sizing chart and was recommended this size. My question is will the material give when worn in?

As a matter of interest, is 42" your normal chest size for a jacket? What did you have on under the Aerostich when you tried it on? They're meant to allow a business suit to be worn beneath it, which is one of the main reasons I want one. At least that's what I was told when I placed my order...

...mine has still to arrive. You've got me worried now :rob

No 40" is my chest size they recommended 42" !!!! Delighted with garment in every other respect.

What were you wearing when you tried it on?

Now I'm really worried! I gave them my normal chest size and the guy on the phone said that it would be fine at that size (also allowing a suit jacket to be worn beneath it)

How much did it cost all-in ? What with the taxes and carriage must add quite a bit on ? :nenau

I've not noticed that the material stretches, but it does become softer as it's worn in and that may give the feeling of it being a bit looser?

The suits are quite stiff when new but after nearly a year mine is feeling much more comfy.

What he said

also is it tight when you're on the bike? They are built for sitting down in so to speak. When I stand up, mine fits like a sack, sat on the bike it's like a glove.

It's to tight, and they don't stretch. Give you £100 for it so you haven't wasted all your money. :thumb

I measured between each joint to get limb lengths, plus a chest measurment & torso length. Because I measured from my elbow to my wrist bone and not to the back of my hand the arms came out short.
I did not want to send the suit back and pay the cost of the postage both ways, or have the hassle with customs, so I spoke to the person who delt with my order, and asked them if they were prepared to send the material so I could have the arms lengthened in the UK. This thay have done, so on saturday I am going to my local seamstress to be measured and altered, at least my suit will be!.

My point is talk to Aerostich and they will sort you out if you are not happy with what they have done.

I bought mine big to layer for winter. I'm a 42 chest and have a 46 one piece. It fits great. Not too big. Not too small.

Hi Desert.
Which colour suit did you buy? It sounds like yours might fit me perfectly. I may be in a position to take it off your hands if it really is too tight for you.
Chris.

I´ve had mine for a couple of years and generally its great. My complaint is that the zip leaks and so you end up with a damp patch (often resembling a map of China) in the groin. Applying divers zip wax to the zip seems to help. A full length flap over the entire zip would help as would more´velco´on the existing storm flap rather than the patches that exist currently.

Re paying taxes etc on a couple of occasions when I´ve bought stuff from the States the vendor has written on the declaration ´Trade Samples´and given a nominal value for the goods. It may be worth asking about this and saving a few quid.

I did ask aerostitch about sending an order as either a gift or a sample.. they politely said 'feck off'
