Is it really worth changing the F800GS's stock exhaust for an after Market end can? (i don't want to replace the hole system due to big bucks involved).

I would welcome your thoughts on the matter and, in particular any experiences (good or bad), any manufacturer recommendations and suggestions of where to go shopping etc.

Thanks

Rob :bow

I've got the Metal Mule exhaust, I think its a Scorpion. Sounds nicer than stock, is lighter and means I have balanced panniers frames.

Got the Akro :thumb

Worth it? Depends, how long is a piece of string ;)

I've got an Akro. Modified the sound modulator (baffle), and fitted a K&N. Better pick up, more mid range and a little more at the top end. It doesn't sound as good as the stock in traffic, but much better when you open it up.

Yeah ... the Akro as supplied is quieter than the stock, but a little modification on the removable baffle soon had that sorted

Without the baffle it was too noisy :blast

Blue Line air filter fitted and Kat removed from middle box :thumb

Lot of weight saved, but then maybe I should lose a couple of stone

Goes better, picks up sweeter, faster and smoother :bounce1

I'm rocking the Akrapovic and loving it... but then I am a whore for noise.

The Akrapovic will surely pass the MOT with the the db killer in the end, they flog them as an option.

i think the stock 800 exhaust sounds well fruity!

I rode next to/in front of/behind one for two weeks and it sounded really good.

FWIW.

:D

No doubt, the stock can sounds great.

I am not overly concerned with the noise but curious if an aftermarket can enhances the pickup to the extent that it warrants the change.

I had an akro on my 1200GSA which, to be honest, didn't make that much of a difference (other than the considerable/obvious weight saving & appearance)

Another Akro lover here (cat removed, baffle out, pipes enamled black) :thumb

So whats the diff between Blue line and K&N air filter :nenau ?

Yes do it, you will love it more. Just keep your original can for the mot.

Yep my akro was fitted from new along with the BMW stamped part number, so no need to remove :D my original one has not been on (in storage) :beerjug:

Nothing ... exactly the same, different colours, different name on them. The Blue Line supplied by Wunderlich for our trip.
Washable re-oilable just like K&N's :thumb
