After much dithering my new tyres arrived.

The TA2 isnt a good wet weather tyre that's why especially cold and wet.

If that's true Im fooked. as I've now got TA 2s on the wheels and they'll be on the bike today or tomorrow.

Conti say the TA and TKC-70 use the same carcass and rubber compounds just the treads differ. I did have an "event" when the 70s were quite new. The back wheel spun up on a whiff of throttle during a right turn. Yes the tyre was cold, but the road was salted and damp and quite slippery.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. I've used them on both my 800s and they have been fantastic in the wet. Just my experience :)

The TA2 is a brilliant tyre,wet or dry !!

I've done thousands of miles on them on various bikes and they are the best out there, having tried Dunlops,Bridgestones and Pirellis.

Most recently rode an Africa Twin two up with luggage in the Dolomites. On a couple of days it was very wet and cold and the TA2s were perfect. Not one slide or moment on VERY slippery hairpins.

Avon Trailrider, all the tyre you will ever need!!

(unless of course you ride off road in a lot of muddy shite)

Interesting that Continental rate the TKC-70 better for wet grip than the CTA-2 ...

The newly fitted TKC70s were stunning. The handling was pin sharp. So much so it took quite a while to acclimatise.
But as the front tread blocks rounded and trailing edges wore down the tyres felt less secure.
However I've no idea if the grip was really so bad. I had no wet grip events but I'm not enough of a hero to test the limits.
