Can anyone help with my choice of and aftermarket exhaust system for and 02 dakar, i have considered the laser duo-tech and dont like it, the scorpion is nice and has a nice deep sound so is an option, does anyone know if akrapovic make one for it? Any help would be much appreciated? Cheers in advance!!!!! :thumb

My 02 Dakar came with Remus exhaust, they look and sound good without being too loud. But since there's no CAT now I can't see the point in having twin exhaust due to extra weight, the only reason for this as far as I can see is style

Cheers for the quick response tim, was that remus twin can setup you were running? does this remove the cat? are they road legal or removeable baffle cans? i'm pretty much looking for the noiseiest option possible, i've heard an 05 dakar with the scorpion end can and connector pipe used in conjunction with a k&n and it sounds wicked even with the baffle in. sorry for all the questions btw!!!!

Replaces CAT with another identical can.
Road legal, baffles fixed I think.I use it with K&N but definatley not the noisiest, (Been there done that ;) )

Only tried single sided cans.................

I've tried the Staintune, with and without the baffle in and it's pretty noisy either way

Also the Arrow Titanium, by the far the best looking and made, plus lightest, but must be the noisiest 650GS can ever

However the bike was slower (top speed) and attracted more attention, due to noise, so put the original cans back on and it is faster than the aftermarket options tried

So in my opinion the whole exercise was a complete waste of money and effort, when the bike was faster with the stock set up.............so BMW must know what they're doing, I concluded

Top speed isn't everything.

I ran my 650 with a Staintune single can - much improved bottom end. Made life a lot easier on the dirt - no hesitation off a closed throttle. But a tad noisy (high revs/open throttle).

Speedo measure was the only way to measure without a dyno,to do a bit of a subjective analysis

Staintune was nice, not the nicest (Arrow) but they were all fecking noisy
