Hi,

I'm swapping the handlebars on my r1150gs to renthals with less sweep and dont like the idea of drilling the lefthand side to accomodate the sleeve for the stock heated grips, along with the hassle of faffing around with the ends to runs the wires through the bars.

Has anyone fitted after market heated grips and used the stock wiring that normally powers the bmw grips?

Having looked at the wiring diagram for the bmw grips it appears that is has only a live and earth and that the double position switch mearly doubles the power supply to the grips on the second higher setting..........is this correct?

Cheers

Garry

Hi Garry,

I fitted these:

Just use the normal BMW wiring and switchgear - works fine.

One of the snags with fitting Renthals or Pro-Tapers is that they act as a huge heat sink to the standard heated grips (I have Ricky Bars) rendering them pretty much useless. These are very effective and no drilling required...

Thanks Mike, i have some oxford heated grips in the garage somewhere, i bet they'd work the same. I like the idea of using the stock wiring and switch. Thanks for the reply.
