Hi
I have bought an R80/7 project (not a gs I know).
I would like to turn it into a sunny sunday rideabout i.e stripped right down, solo seat maybe flat track bars.

The bike was ridden into a shed many years ago and left so possibly it's mechanically sound but probably not.

Anyway I have neither the time or mechanical experience to take on such a job so does anyone know an engineer/mechanic in Lincolnshire or East Midlands.

Many thanks

Totally agree.

Steve has done a great job with Bertha and finally got her sorted. Beware though!! He does a feckin gorgeous cafe racer that will make you wanna sell your left kidney :D:D:D:D:D

Steve did the gearbox rebuild on my 1100gs and did a great job.
As I'm in no hurry with this one I may well give him a shout - he does get extremely busy
It's always nice to go and see the RTW bikes he's building.
Just wondered if there was anyone else.

What is Mr Farmer doing at present?:D

Did I read on travel thread that he is in Turkey, trying to get some replacement tyres for an airhead?

Looks like he is on a long ride out....

He may be busy, but he rebuilt my 80/7 bottom end (new mains /crank shims etc) very recently - turned it around in a week.

I'm in Brasov (romania) staying at Gavin bells. Got a buggered gearbox after hitting a pot hole in Bulgaria, if you've seen Bulgarian potholes you'll understand, still managed 1500 miles after the damage was caused.

Going to leave the bike out here and return with another gearbox at some point.

Rob,

I assume you're on an Airhead . .

I have a spare box and could ship it out to you if you wish :thumb.

Not sure how long that would take :nenau.

It won't be as shiny as yours though :D

Bob.

Thanks bob. I have a spare at home.

The one in the bikes bust an output shaft bearing. Vibrated badly when I hit the pothole, that cleared but my top speed before vibration kicked in came down. Loads of ally dust came out with the oil.

Are you sure we can't get a box to you? I've got a freshly rebuilt one you can borrow, and you know where I did it!
