Project katmandu is shortly to see the road, so I just wanted to give a short tribute to my R100g/s which has been a 40mile a day daily commuter for the last two winters.

Somewhat used and abused in the salt and the rain it hasn't faltered at all over the last winter - a real tribute to what is this year a 30 year old bike, and despite its age a pleasure to ride.

So here she is .. nearing the time when she leaves the road and under goes her own rebuild

And now the keihin exhaust collector has completely sheared on the exit to the exhaust pipe .. she still runs fine though!!

Just wondering .. would it be ok or sacrilegious to paint her frame blue as well?

Just a wipe over with an oily cloth and she'll be right

Try Keihan for a repair or replacement collector box, they did mine after 10 years f.o.c.

They stood by their product

I'm with these guys. She already looks a whole lot better than mt R80 sidecar. Give her a really good wash (tank off, seat off etc) and pop a pair of side panels back on. She'll look just great Nice and original.

Thanks for the , the frame & battery carrier are really rusty though - i didn't realize how well the mud & grime covers it up

Why is it when I want to take a picture of a pristine bike it comes out rubish and when I want to show how grotty a bike has got - it comes out looking not too bad!

is the gear shifter after marked one were did you get it from? as the one on my r100gs has a diffrent shape part you move with your foot and the rubber part is now missing.

Migsel stand with standard mono lever gear linkage..
My g/lever rubber disappeared 10 years ago, got a bit of good quality hosepipe on, till I get around to fixing it

was thinking of cutting off the normal part and bolt / weld on a cylinder one will need to think about the best way.

the old one leaves marks on my boots

The rubbers are about a quid from Motoworks / motobins Get 2 and save tuther for 15 years till other perishes

there are several similar ones around. You just drill off the spigot for the rubber and replace it with the fitting above
