Went out again yesterday on Jaffa, god I love this old thing I've been out on her quite abit since taking ownership ( haven't ridden the fireblade in months) and every time I come back with a grin on my face. My mate who's got a ktm990 sm hates it cos no matter how he tries he can't shake her off his tale which disturbs him as he claims a 21 year old bike shouldn't go that quick. I think I'm getting old. Sorry dad for all the piss taking, you may have been right after all.

Totaly agree ,not using bikes much over the last year or two but I know Ive got my airhead to fall back on anytime I take the notion ,somit different and ultimately cool and desirable I luv em and I can still hold a pee in.Plus they are money in the bank or better .

they are great bikes when they are working fine but problems is the parts cost a lots and my old r100gs just keeps having little things going on it but the small things seen to cost a sh.t load than then making me think of selling and getting a diffternt bike

I love em and hate em, I'd sell her and say goodbye, but I would feel like I lost a limb.

Have you ever tried buying parts for a new bike? £100 for a set of pads for an s1000rr!! I think you'll find airhead parts are cheap compared to modern kit

we have all been there and will be there again I bet
But just like your household electrics - every 20 odd years you need to give it all a coat of lookin at and fixit for the next 20 = lets hope so anyway

Exactly..... I have found the R100GS is the cheapest bike to repair of the 10 bikes I have here in my shed.
I daren't think which in the most expensive to maintain..... probably the G450X, followed by the 1200GSA.

Agree. I always thought parts were well priced and that's with freight from the UK. Lots of common parts over various models so S/H parts are readily available. The big saving is that they are so mechanically simple, you can save heaps on labour by doing most of the work yourself.

for a speedo for my gs was £300 but for my old honda it was only 30 for a aftr market one. but for a 1st big bik the insurace was cheap
