Akrapovic end can

Has anybody experienced the above with a rattle, I have just sold one and the purchaser recons it has a rattle. I have spoke with the BMW dealer who supplied it to me and he recons he has never had to replace one because it rattled, he also suggested that until the exhaust valve opens fully they do tend to sound muffled which may be confused for a rattle ?, Any thoughts ?

I bought one unused off this site and took a lot of care fitting it, no issues at all.
Is it on a GSA ?. The fitting instructions require you to remove and refit the alluminium luggage rack to accomodate the can, I'm guessing your buyer perhaps took a shortcut and just squeezed it in? either that or he's not connected it up correctly.

The fitting instructions are very detailed.

Not sure which model he has fitted it to, but I did supply the original Motorrad fitting instructions that was supplied with it. I am interested in the suggestion by the dealer that they do sound muffled when the exhaust valve isn't fully opened, which would be pretty much all the time when idleing or just reving it on the stand off load and was wondering if he is mistaking this as a rattle ?. I don't remember any difference myself

I vaguely remember having somat like this, when I changed just me headers, and then when I changed the exhaust for the akra can, and took out the valve with a bypass pipe, the noise was gone, so id say definatly the valve

I read somewhere on here that they can rattle from the mount if not fitted quite right. Mine was fitted by the dealer and there's no rattle.

Tell him to take the pipe off and shake it - does it rattle then? There's bugger all in the to actually rattle.

If the baffle's removed you'll get a whistle from the baffle bolt hole, but that's about it.

I picked up a secondhand bog standard Triumph exhaust for a friend of mine,

It rattled.

But stopped when I tipped it upside down and gave it a good shake. Out fell several nuts that a squirrel had secreted down the tube whilst it had sat around in a shed for several months over the autumn. It took quite a bit of shaking to get the last ones out. No nuts, no rattle.
