Tried to get to Albania via Corfu earlier this year, then found out the 'Ferry' from Corfu to Albania was foot passengers only, :blast, so decided to have a week on the bevvy in Corfu, then ferry up to Venice and home via Austria, CZ, Germany, Holland Belgium France.
We intend to attack from the other direction next year, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Mainland Greece.
My question for all the seasoned travellers out there is:-
I can see a fairly direct route along the West coast of Albania and Into Greece just North of Igoumenitsa, however, the Garmin insists on sending me on a 300 mile route from the west coast of Albania 20 mile North of the Greece border, east into Albania, into Greece then West back to Igoumenitsa.
Is this because the direct road is poor, if that is the case, can the GSA, 2 up, make it anyway.
Any advice appreciated

Mmmmmmmmmm

Horizons Unlimited it is then :P

You'll be fine, it's just a routing issue.

Your direct route into Greece will work. There is a better route that will bring you out via Macedonia though.

Two up on a GSA no great problem - but you will need to concentrate, roads are very variable.

If you want track logs for Albania let me know.

Thanks for that Popeye, I have pm'd you re track logs :thumb2

its about 70 mile of track in the process of being tarmacked it is a road because you pass busses and lorries but its not the best, road signs in albania are dire ,people are freindly enough giving directions etc

Came through Albania a couple of days ago :D
The road from Burrel to Debar in Macedonia is a mixture of good tarmac, bad tarmac, horrendous pot holed gravel
and is going through all stages of constuction at the moment.....It's a bit of a challange in places where the road works are and in most places the road would be closed :augie
But great fun :thumb

Albania is a hidden gem. It's got the mountains for skiing, Lakes, beautiful beaches, friendly people, great food and lots of history. I'm quite a fan :thumb2

The roads are improving as you can see. Some are in mid construction and others have yet to be tackled but all in all It's a new place to discover that is not a million miles from here.
