Just thought I would ask the question to any tent experts out there.

At the moment Aldi are selling a 3 man tent for £24.99, the speck is as follows.

Waterproof 100% polyester outer and sewn-in ground sheet.
Outer tent double-stitched and sealed.
Breathable inner tent with mosquito net.
Awning.
8.5m fibreglass poles.
2000mm water column??
3yr warranty.

My question is what makes this tent different to a tent that costs £100 +?

On the Gadget show a couple of weeks ago they tested three tents for stability and weather proofing under extreme conditions, a cheapie around £24, a Khyam around £150 ish and another tent around £500, the Khyam was by far and away the best, if I was going to use a tent more than the once a year at the Hograost it would be the only one I'd consider:thumb2

Something you usually find out at 3am when it's very wet and very windy. Then you realise why it was £24.99.

That maybe unfair as I have no experience of an Aldi tent but I personally wouldn't trust something that cheap if I wanted a relaxing sleep.

the good thing about a cheepy tent is that you can bin it if at the end of a wet trip if you dont want the hassle of cleaning and drying it:thumb2

get to the rally, find nearest argos, buy tent, do rally, pack tent, return tent to argos "unsuitable", get refund, go home:beerjug:

no hauling tent 100's of miles, no sorting out messy tent at home, new tent every rally:clap
