Working in a remote desert outpost in Algeria, much to my surprise when I left the base recently I spotted a lovely R80 airhead parked outside, never seen anything bigger than a 125 over here before. Anyway I tracked down the owner an Algerian who works here and spent over an hour talking airhead crap with him. I have never met such an encyclopedia on airheads as this guy, he knew every torque value, valve setting, needle notch etc............ Anyway turns out there is a glut of airheads going wanting over here, there were used by the police and military up to 1991, then deemed too dangerous to ride as they were too easy a target to be shot at. They were all sold off to the public and there is apparently a huge spares mountain as well. Not many people can afford to own and maintain them so they are left lying, all in good nick, no rain, no salt in this climate. Its a shame its damn near impossible to actually get anything out of the country here due to their strict customs rules as a lot of its going to waste.
