Went to work Monday morning bike went up the gear box but would only come down to 4th. I Cleaned and lubricated the gear change late yesterday afternoon still goosed, Southport Superbike couldn't look at it until a week on Thursday. I remembered a conversation with a Preston fella at Rivington Barn the other week who sang the praises of Allan Jefferies in Shipley, so I called them at 17:05 last night, told them it is my only transport they said if I could get there today they would take a look and do what they could. So I put the bike on the trailer dropped the Wife at work and set off up the M62. Arriverd at 09:30 they dropped what they were doing helped me un-load it. 2hrs later all stripped, adjusted, cleaned, gear box oil changed, tested and too much coffee. £40 bargin. They get my vote and future business

Why is it a problem? I have to take a day of to get anything done to the bike so why take it to Southport when they could not even look at it for over a week, the alternative being Manchester, besides the run up and back on the A59 and its various diversions is better than the Motorway. I might live in Preston but I originated in Cheshire (so I am not involved in your local flower power fight)and have lived and worked all points West to the US and East to Borneo, the GS is hopefully going to cover the bits that I missed. The bike will be back up there for its 24000 service at the beginning of May, if I have to pay then at least a want to be treated as a customer and not a meal ticket.
