Here I am in Almería at the moment at my mums flat. Been working from home the last couple of days so not much time to ride around.

However, from midday today I can finally have a proper holiday. Any suggestions where to go? Not sure if anyone here saw a recent Top Gear episode when they went to the peak of a snowy mountain in the south. Any idea where that is?

Also interested in some off-roady stuff, any ideas?

Just come back from almeria as mum lives in La Canada. There's some great trails to ride in the mountains. If you have a trail bike just find the nearest dry river bed and head north. If your on a GS go out towards tabeneras near mini Hollywood and ride some of the bigger trails. Use google earth to have a look. The riding round there is awesome

Be careful in the cabo area, its all national park and pretty much a no go area. If you head out into the mountains behind nijar you'll be ok but try to ride the dry river beds as they are pretty open with few rules. The general rule of thumb is stay on the trails and donkey tracks and don't go off piste. A good starting point is from behind the prison wher the road splits for the cabo and San Jose.

Came back from a great ride out out today, passing Rodalquilar in the national park. Why do you say the national park is a no-go?

Depeneds where you go, I'm on my GS so a bit massive for just finding a river and going up it again (tried and succeeded, just , prefer something different) I'll post some photos and plot the route on gmaps tomorrow. To tired now. But yep, certainly different to the tiny little lanes around Surrey I'm used to... And loving it.

Didn't realise you were on the gs I said no go for parts of the cabo because its a place of natural interest so many of the smaller trails are closed to vehicles. There are some nice big dirt roads you can ride on towards Monsol beach etc.

The snowy area you saw on Top Gear would have been the ski resort that you head up to from Granada..... Not that interesting at the top to to be honest and not even in my top 100 roads either..... The coast roads heading west from Adra and a lot of the newly surfaced twisties heading north and south between the Mediterranean and the Sierra Nevarda mountains to the west of Adra are well wort a play, if the want to ride the black stuff...

South and west along the Contraviesa costal range, then las Alpujarras on the south of the sierra nevada ,maybe the puerta de ragua over to Guadix.

Some top riding around here, and thats without the tracks.

To be honest just rode anywhere I could find off road. Admitedly sometimes ended up in peoples property

Excellent fun though:
